What is block exemption?

If you think that you need to take your car to a main dealer to avoid invalidating you vehicle's warranty, then think again!

The EC Block Exemption Regulation 1400/2002 (October 2003) allows motorist the freedom to choose where they get their car serviced, which can save you money on parts and labour.

Thanks to this legislation, maintenance and service work does not have to be done by the main dealer as long as the garage uses original equipment 'matching quality' parts and is recorded as such, and also the garage follows the manufacturer's service schedules.

The Block Exemption Regulation (BER) covers service and maintenance during the warranty period and prohibits vehicle manufacturers' warranties from including conditions that require:

  • all normal maintenance to provided within the vehicle manufacturer's network
  • all parts used must be the manufacturer's original spare parts

What does this mean for you?

BER safeguards the free competition in aftermarket parts, repairs and services and will benefit motorists by reducing the cost of servicing through better labour rates and competitively prices parts.

With our state-of-the-art facilities, continual investment in up-to-date training, equipment, OE matching quality parts, M & M Auto Repairs servicing provides a low-cost servicing solution with savings of up to 80% on the main dealers.
